Say No To Plastic show at Dandiya program of NRRF

NRRF - NIBM Road Residents Forum, Kondhwa, Pune had hosted a Dandiya Delight program on the 11th of October 2008. Around 250 people graced the occasion. The local corporator was there too. The crowd was happy and danced to the tune of Dandiya music. Stalls sold their wares and the food stalls busy serving delicacies. There was a break of 10 minutes at 9.00pm and a small show was presented by Shahnawaz Kamil Shaikh (blogger) who is the head of SNTP at NRRF and the crowd was quite receptive to it. They later began discussing amongst them about the dangers of plastic bags.

Cleanliness Drive

I am associated with a NGO named "NRRF" (NIBM Road Residents Forum) and I am heading the sub-committee called "SNTP" (Say No To Plastic) I have a team of 4-5 other NRRF members who help me in the cause needless to say the whole of the managing committe is always available. We had organised a cleanliness drive on 10th May 2008. We had lot of school going children, local residents and Pune Municipal Corporation workers to help us clean the patch of NIBM road and Undri road, rid free of plastic garbage.

The local corporator was present to boost our morale and distributed butter milk to all who particpated. The gloves and garbage bags were sponsored by "SELA TECHNOLOGY SOLUTIONS (I) PVT. LTD (Israeli Group) and drinking water with biscuits were sponsored by NEW GRACE EDUCATION FOUNDATION which runs a school in the vicinity of NIBM. Fruit Juice and wafers were sponsored by Sharon, Vaishali Jhannu, Usha Kumar. All who participated had a swell time and were very happy that they did something for the environment.
